Troops Capture Notorious Terrorist Leader Habu Dogo in Sokoto State

In a major victory against terrorism, troops of Operation Fansa Yanma, under the 8 Division, have apprehended a notorious terrorist leader, Abubakar Bawa Ibrahim, also known as Habu Dogo, in Rumji village, Illela Local Government Area, Sokoto State. Illela is among the eight local governments within the Sokoto East senatorial district severely affected by insurgent activities.

According to a statement by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj Gen Edward Buba, Habu Dogo was a high-profile terrorist on the watchlists of Nigerian security agencies and the neighboring Niger Republic due to his involvement in cross-border terror operations. The statement detailed the success of ongoing operations, with troops having neutralized 187 terrorists, arrested 262 suspects, rescued 147 kidnapped victims, and recovered numerous arms within the latest review period.

Reacting to the news, Sokoto-based commentator Abdulfatai Abdul Karim commended the relentless efforts of the 8 Division troops, lauding their recent successes. He further encouraged the division to amplify its achievements, helping the local communities understand the progress being made in the fight against terrorism.

These efforts reflect the commitment of security forces to restore peace and stability to the terror-stricken communities in Sokoto State and across the nation.
