A tragic scene unfolded on Tuesday morning at Ita Eku, Igirigiri Road, Odo Ado, Ado Ekiti, where the lifeless bodies of a policeman and his wife were discovered in a pool of blood inside their residence. The shocking incident left residents in tears as they gathered around the crime scene, struggling to comprehend what had transpired.

Unclear Circumstances Surrounding the Deaths

Although the exact cause of the deaths remains unknown, sources suggest that the couple may have killed each other during a violent altercation, given the deep cuts and injuries found on their bodies.

A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said that loud cries from the house attracted neighbors to the scene.

“I was just passing by when I noticed people gathering and weeping. They said they heard cries from the house before discovering the bodies, but no one can say exactly what led to it.”

Another eyewitness attempted to piece together what might have happened, suggesting that the altercation turned deadly.

“From what I saw, it looked like they had a serious issue. It seemed as if the woman cut off the man’s private parts, and in retaliation, he inflicted a fatal deep cut on her. Nobody can say for sure, but that is what I think happened.”

Police Launch Investigation

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, stated that the police have launched a full-scale investigation to determine the actual cause of death.

“It is confirmed, and an investigation has commenced to know the actual cause of their deaths. We are still gathering information,” Abutu said in a text message.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited in the morgue, while authorities continue their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
