AtBUTH Bauchi, the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, has reduced the cost of kidney dialysis by 70%.
Usman Koli, the hospital’s head of the public relations unit, revealed the change in a press statement on Wednesday, saying it is a brave move to help patients with their financial difficulties.
Koli stated that patients suffering from kidney-related conditions can now find comfort as the procedure’s cost has been lowered from ₦40,000 to an inexpensive ₦12,000 per session.
“Professor Yusuf Bara, the Chief Medical Director, expressed optimism regarding the program’s impact,” he said.
In order to assist the hospital’s efforts, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare not only made sure that consumables were available in large quantities, but also supplied a new dialysis equipment.
“This program demonstrates the government’s dedication to providing high-quality healthcare to everyone, particularly in these difficult times.”
He claims that more than 45 recipients have already used the subsidized services.
He emphasized that the hospital’s goal of offering high-quality, reasonably priced healthcare while bolstering public confidence in the healthcare system is in line with this strategy.
He gave the public the assurance that ATBUTH will keep working with the Federal Ministry of Health and other relevant parties to maintain and grow such initiatives for the good of all residents.
A kidney patient at Magaji Galadima Hospital responded to the news by expressing sincere appreciation for the intervention.
“Many of us who previously couldn’t afford treatment now have hope thanks to this program,” Magaji added.
“It genuinely changes people’s lives.”
