In a significant move to improve access to electricity in the Bali/Gassol Federal Constituency of Taraba State, Hon. Jafaru Yakubu, Member of the Federal House of Representatives and House Committee Chairman on Nigeria-China Relations, inaugurated the rural electrification project on Monday. The project includes the extension of a 33KVA power line from Sunkani to Garba-Chede, marking a major development for the community that has been without electricity for over 30 years.
Representing Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas at the ceremony, Deputy Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hamma Adama Abdullahi, emphasized the transformative potential of electricity for Garba-Chede’s economic growth. He urged contractors to ensure that every part of Garba-Chede is connected, noting that reliable power access would significantly enhance daily life and stimulate local businesses.
The electrification effort, coupled with newly installed solar street lights, reflects Hon. Jafaru’s dedication to addressing his constituency’s needs. In his address, Hon. Jafaru reaffirmed his commitment to Garba-Chede, promising additional development projects to further empower the community. He called on residents to continue supporting his initiatives, assuring them that more programs to improve livelihoods and infrastructure were in the pipeline.
Alhaji Mustapha Musa, representing the community, expressed gratitude, noting that the electrification project ends decades of darkness in Garba-Chede. He highlighted how electricity would improve living standards and drive economic opportunities for residents.
The event was attended by notable figures, including PDP State Chairman Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, Hon. Veronica Alhassan’s representative Mallam Habila Bala Balasa, Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Digital Communication Emmanuel Bello, and Jafaru Yakubu Campaign Council Chairman Alhaji Uba Sanda, among others. The project is seen as a critical step towards sustainable development and economic revitalization for the Garba-Chede community and surrounding areas.
