Nigeria’s new Minister of Sports, John Enoh, has outlined a focused agenda to enhance the country’s sports infrastructure, which he considers essential for advancing both grassroots and elite sports performance. Enoh shared his commitment to facilities development after completing his first week in office, following his swearing-in by President Bola Tinubu alongside other ministers.

Speaking from Abuja, Enoh emphasized the importance of quality facilities, stating, “Facilities and infrastructure are key drivers of sports success. They are fundamental to achieving high-level performance and fostering grassroots sports growth.”

Highlighting the need to both maintain and upgrade existing sports facilities, the former Cross River senator remarked on the current state of Nigerian infrastructure compared to global standards. His plans include a comprehensive assessment of facilities nationwide to ensure they align with international benchmarks.

Having already conducted an inspection of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, Enoh plans to continue his review across the country, focusing on elevating the nation’s sports infrastructure as a cornerstone for sustained success in Nigerian sports.
