Social Media Influencer VeryDarkMan Apologizes to Nigeria Police for Wearing Costume Resembling Uniform

Martins Otse, a social media personality known as VeryDarkMan, publicly apologized to the Nigeria Police Force following a recent viral video where he appeared wearing a costume similar to a police uniform, humorously introducing himself as the “CSP of the Online Division.”

In a video and written statement shared on Instagram on Wednesday, VeryDarkMan revealed that he had been questioned by police over the incident, describing it as a learning experience. He clarified that his reference to “CSP” was intended to mean “Chief Social Media Person,” not the official police rank of Chief Superintendent of Police.

“After my visit to the police station, I learned valuable lessons about the importance of respecting official insignia and attire. I didn’t mean to impersonate the police, and I sincerely apologize to the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector General of Police’s office,” he stated.

He encouraged the public to seek proper permissions from law enforcement before wearing attire resembling police uniforms, emphasizing that while one’s intentions may be harmless, unauthorized use could be problematic.

“I urge everyone to get approval from the police or relevant authorities before wearing anything that resembles official uniforms, even for good intentions,” he added.

The Nigeria Police Force had condemned the unauthorized use of its official uniform by VeryDarkMan in his video, where he humorously referred to himself as “CSP VeryDarkMan” and announced his dedication to cleaning up social media by calling out alleged offenders, especially targeting unethical online vendors.
