The Restored Health Foundation (RHF) has reaffirmed its commitment to improving access to basic healthcare, particularly in Nigeria’s underserved communities, as one of its top priorities in 2023. The organization emphasized its dedication to promoting good health and well-being across the country, driven by its goal of ensuring equal access to healthcare for all Nigerians.
This commitment was highlighted by RHF’s Founder and Executive Director, Mr. Samuel Oluwatimilehin, during a medical outreach event held in Gwarinpa Village, Abuja, to commemorate the 2023 World Health Day. The “Gwarinpa Medical Outreach,” which took place on April 1st at the Primary Health Care Centre in Gwarinpa, featured a team of seven volunteer medical doctors, over 20 medical assistants, and volunteers tasked with crowd control, monitoring, and evaluation.
During the outreach, more than 200 community members received personal consultations with the onsite doctors, underwent basic medical tests, and were provided with necessary prescriptions. In addition, the RHF donated various medicines to the local primary health care center to support the community’s health needs.
Oluwatimilehin explained, “As an organization, we have a keen interest in ensuring equal access to healthcare, especially in underserved communities across the country. This is why we have absorbed the SDG 3 action points into our programmatic thrust, making it one of our focuses to promote good health and well-being in Nigeria.”
He further noted that RHF’s medical outreach aims to address the challenges of low awareness and limited access to quality primary healthcare in low-income areas. “After a careful assessment of the current health situation in some parts of the country, we discovered that many individuals in low-income communities lack access to quality healthcare. Due to the lack of awareness, most community members neglect their personal health. The Medical Outreach Programme seeks to tackle these challenges and ensure that more communities have access to healthcare and receive the support they need,” Oluwatimilehin added.
Looking ahead, RHF is determined to extend its efforts to more communities across Nigeria and continue assisting primary healthcare centers to promote the overall well-being of the population.
