Residents of the Sedu 2 community in Ogijo, Ogun State, have called for a stronger security presence following the gruesome discovery of a dismembered female corpse on Sunday. The incident has sparked fear and concern among locals, who are now demanding regular police patrols to prevent further occurrences.
Police Confirm Investigation Into Suspected Ritual Killing
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the discovery, stating that an investigation was underway to identify those responsible for what is suspected to be a ritual killing.
Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola acknowledged the case, revealing that the headless body, with both hands severed and wrapped in a sack, was found inside a fenced farmland within the community.
She further disclosed that preliminary investigations suggested the body had been dumped at the location, indicating that the crime may have been committed elsewhere before the remains were discarded.
Ritual Murder Suspicions Rise Amid Similar Incidents
This disturbing event comes just days after the shocking case in Kwara State, where an Islamic cleric, Muhammed Bello, allegedly murdered and dismembered his girlfriend, Hafsoh Lawal, whom he had met on Facebook.
The recent string of brutal killings has heightened fears among Nigerians, particularly in communities where ritual killings are suspected to be on the rise.
Authorities Respond, Crime Scene Secured for Investigation
Following the discovery, the police cordoned off the crime scene, and the deceased’s remains were transferred to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu for preservation and forensic examination.
The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has since ordered a thorough investigation into the matter, vowing that those responsible will be tracked down and brought to justice. He also urged parents and guardians to have conversations about security with their children, emphasizing the need for vigilance and community cooperation in preventing crime.
Residents Call for Urgent Action
Speaking with FRONTPAGE, a resident who requested anonymity for fear of reprisal, described the horrifying moment the body was found.
“A member of the community saw a wrapped bag with blood dripping from it. When someone tried to check what was inside, a severed human hand fell out,” the resident recounted.
Another resident, Ronke, expressed deep shock over the crime and the fact that the body was dumped unnoticed.
“Her head was cut off. Her two hands were severed. They squeezed her body inside the sack. It is difficult to identify her,” she lamented.

Residents are now urging the police to increase security patrols and strengthen surveillance in the area to prevent such gruesome crimes from occurring again.
