President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu have left Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, after attending the 2024 G20 Leaders’ Summit. The summit, held from November 18 to November 19, 2024, focused on fostering sustainable global development and addressing pressing international issues.
Hosted by Brazilian President Lula da Silva under the theme “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet,” the summit featured discussions on economic sustainability, climate change, digital transformation, and reforms in global governance. Leaders from the world’s largest economies, the African Union, and key financial institutions were in attendance.
During his time at the summit, Tinubu participated in bilateral discussions aimed at advancing Nigeria’s socio-economic reforms. His delegation included top government officials such as Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Livestock Development Idi Maiha, Minister of Art, Tourism, Culture, and Creativity Hannatu Musawa, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security Dr. Aliyu Abdullahi, and National Intelligence Agency Director General Mohammed Mohammed.
This marks an important step in Nigeria’s engagement with the G20, whose members include the European Union, the United States, China, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and other influential global economies.
