President Tinubu Appoints Jamiu Abiola as Senior Special Assistant on Linguistics and Foreign Affairs

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Jamiu Abiola as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Linguistics and Foreign Matters. The appointment, effective November 14, 2024, was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Jamiu Abiola, son of the late Chief Moshood Abiola, the winner of the annulled 1993 presidential election, previously served as Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties in the Office of the Vice President. His new role is aligned with the provisions of the Certain Political and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc.) Act 2008, as amended.

According to the statement, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of Abiola’s new role and urged him to collaborate closely with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The president expressed confidence that Abiola’s experience and expertise would significantly contribute to his administration’s diplomatic and linguistic goals.

“President Tinubu tasks the appointee to work closely with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new assignment,” the statement read.

This appointment highlights the administration’s effort to leverage diverse expertise in advancing Nigeria’s global diplomatic interests.
