In a disturbing incident in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, a 65-year-old man, Mr. Monday Reuben, was reportedly attacked and stabbed by his neighbor, identified only as Nnanna, following allegations that Reuben was a “wizard” responsible for his neighbor’s misfortunes. The assault took place at 37 Okwelle Street, Mile 2 Diobu, on Wednesday.
According to Reuben, the confrontation began when he asked Nnanna to make room for sand to be packed from the shared area. Nnanna allegedly took offense, accusing Reuben of witchcraft and threatening to kill him. “He told me he would kill me and flee, saying he believed I was behind his bad luck,” Reuben recounted.
Reuben explained that Nnanna initially attacked him on Tuesday night, breaking a bottle and stabbing him in the neck. The following morning, Nnanna allegedly returned to Reuben’s home, forcing his way in and stabbing him on the head.
Reuben, who serves as the caretaker of the residence, immediately reported the incident to the Azikiwe Police Division, where he was issued a doctor’s report for treatment. At the time of reporting, Nnanna had fled the scene and his whereabouts remain unknown.
Rivers State Police Command spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
