Police Arrest Woman for Allegedly Killing Barman Over ₦200 Debt in Yola

The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 32-year-old woman, identified as Riyanatu Musa, for allegedly stabbing a barman, Yohanna Musa, to death during an altercation over a ₦200 debt in Yola, Adamawa State.

Incident Details

In a statement issued on Friday, the police spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, revealed that the suspect, a resident of Mubi South Local Government Area, confessed to the crime. The altercation reportedly stemmed from a balance of ₦200 for liquor purchased from the victim.

“She confessed to committing the heinous crime, stating that she had collected dry gin known as ‘Big Ben’ and ‘Yahoo’ from the deceased. She promised to pay the following day after settling ₦1,500, leaving a balance of ₦200,” Nguroje stated.

The argument escalated into a fight, during which the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim in the chest, leading to his death.

Police Action

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Dankombo Morris, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident. He also warned the public against taking the law into their own hands, urging individuals to resolve disputes through lawful means.
