The Jigawa Police Command has apprehended suspected livestock rustlers and recovered three cows and eleven sheep.
According to a statement from the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the suspects were apprehended on November 26, 2024, around 3:00 a.m.
DSP Adam stated that a combined team of police and vigilante security personnel intercepted a suspicious Volkswagen Sharon hatchback painted green and bearing the registration number KMC 28 ZR, driven by Aminu Adamu, 38, and one passenger from Kano State’s Gezawa Local Government Area.
He indicated that the car was loaded with three cows and eleven sheep.
During the inquiry, the police spokesperson stated that five more suspects from Unguwa Uku in Kano State had been apprehended.
The Jigawa Command PPRO added in the statement that none of the suspects denied perpetrating the alleged crime.
In a similar event, the Police Command detained Sani Abdullahi, a 25-year-old man, for sodomizing 12 juveniles in Basirka town, Gwaram Local Government Area.
According to the cop, the suspect who confessed to the murder revealed that he was exiled from Zaria and ordered to relocate to his village of Basirka following his repeated detention for the same offense.
“The minors were taken to the Jigawa Sexual Assault Referral Center in Dutse for medical examinations.” The doctor on duty confirmed that all 12 youngsters had been punctured through the anus.”
The PPRO requested that all arrested individuals be arraigned in court and face the full power of the law.
He also stated that the police command would work relentlessly to guarantee that justice was delivered.
However, the police command has urged the public to continue cooperating with the police by providing relevant information that can aid in the battle against crime.
Meanwhile, Adam praised the joint team of police and vigilante security workers for their bravery and devotion to duty. He also thanked the public for its support and cooperation.
“The arrest of the suspected cattle rustlers and the sodomy suspect is a testament to the police command’s commitment to fighting crime and ensuring justice in Jigawa State,” the spokesperson said.
