The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter in Osun State declared on Monday that Prince Kola Adewusi, a party leader, would be Senator Ademola Adeleke’s running partner in the state’s July governorship election.
“While the choice of Prince Adewusi might have elicited divergent reactions in several blocs and individual opinion, I urge our party leaders and members alike, to rather close ranks and come together strongly to rescue our state from the ruinous APC,” said party chairman Hon. Sunday Bisi after the party stakeholders meeting in Osogbo. In every contest, these kinds of responses and counterreactions are practically a given.
“I implore the kind people of Ile-Ife and Osun State to unite behind our brother Prince Adewusi’s selection as our candidate’s running mate, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke. After all, no one would have been selected for the same role without the accompanying jeers and applause.
But our shared objective of rescuing Osun State ought to command our attention and lead us to a steadfast dedication to building a united front of triumph.
“This is a historic day in the history of Osun State’s great party, the People’s Democratic Party, or PDP. We are starting our march to victory on this momentous day. We shall all remember this day to recognize the importance of sticking together throughout a fight. NOW IS AN EXCITING DAY.
“Great leaders of our party, you would remember that I have always supported group decision-making ever since I took over as our party’s chairman in Osun State.
“I have consistently advocated for stakeholder discussions following urgent or significant issues that affect our wonderful party. I take this action because I think politics can be compared to a cooperative where ideas are sorted and processed for the benefit of all.
“The purpose of calling today’s stakeholders gathering was not just to complete administrative or procedural procedures, but also to introduce and activate the IMOLE PROJECT of Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, our candidate for governor, and Prince Kola Adewusi, his deputy.”
“I firmly believe that the two that our party has selected will inspire all forces, resulting in a decisive win for our wonderful party and, consequently, the good people of Osun State.
“While it is primarily the elected candidate’s prerogative to choose a running mate from among the party’s highly competent individuals, it is encouraging that Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke went with the route of extensive consultations when selecting Prince Adewusi.
Put differently, we selected the deputy governorship candidate in the same way as we elected our governor-in-waiting as a group.
“Although I congratulate our brother Prince Kola Adewusi on his success as our great party’s deputy governorship candidate in Osun State, I also challenge him to get up right now and join us in our fight for triumph.
“I implore you to use every resource at your disposal to contribute to our cause. I implore you to collaborate with our candidate, gain more allies for the endeavor, and increase the project’s vote total. I want you to be in the winning boat, actively involved. My colleagues and I in the State Working Committee have complete faith in your ability to patch things up and strive toward our mutual prosperity.
We would like to reassure our candidate once more of our unwavering dedication to the IMOLE GOVERNORSHIP PROJECT. We’ll support and collaborate with you. We’ll work with the unwavering Osun State people to elect you governor. Together, we can save Osun State.
“Once more, I would want to express my gratitude to all of you wonderful leaders, kind men and women, and enthusiastic young members of our party for your unwavering commitment to supporting the party throughout the years, despite crude diversions. We are still standing because of the strength of your backing.
