The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted claims of an agreement to allocate its presidential ticket to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or any high-profile party member for the 2027 general election. This clarification was made by Timothy Osadolor, the party’s Deputy National Youth Leader, during an exclusive interview with FRONTPAGE.

Osadolor dismissed speculations of a predetermined candidate, stating that the party has yet to initiate the processes for the 2027 election.

“Nobody has officially declared their intention to run under the PDP banner, and the party has not commenced the sale of nomination forms or called for primaries. At this point, we cannot speculate about who will run or who won’t,” Osadolor explained.

His remarks followed recent statements by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who suggested that Atiku might not secure the party’s ticket again due to past events. While acknowledging Wike’s perspective, Osadolor argued that Atiku’s political ambitions shouldn’t be dismissed outright, drawing a parallel with Donald Trump’s political comeback in the United States.

“If Trump could emerge victorious against formidable opposition like Kamala Harris, anything is possible,” he said. “Wike’s observations about Atiku’s previous campaigns may hold merit, but many still believe the 2023 election was fraudulent and that Atiku was the rightful winner.”

Osadolor emphasized that any candidate vying for the PDP ticket in 2027 would need to foster unity within the party, potentially requiring the support of key figures like Wike. He added, “No one can succeed without building bridges across all divides, including reconciling with influential members such as Nyesom Wike.”

The PDP reiterated that it remains focused on rebuilding and preparing for a transparent process when the time comes to select its flag bearer for the 2027 presidential race.
