Tragic Incident at Bowen University
The Osun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the murder of Paul Thinker, a 200-level Computer Science student at Bowen University, Iwo, who was fatally stabbed by unidentified assailants.
The incident was reported to the Iwo Divisional Headquarters on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at approximately 10:55 p.m., according to the command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola.
Details of the Case
The university’s Chief Security Officer, Akindoyo Joseph, alerted the police about the stabbing incident involving Paul Thinker.
Opalola explained that detectives were promptly deployed to the scene of the crime to secure evidence and begin an investigation.
Items recovered from the crime scene included:
- A cap
- Slippers
- A handset
- An earpod
- A power bank
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the university mortuary.
Police Statement
Speaking on the ongoing investigation, Opalola said:
“Police detectives were swiftly drafted to the scene. Items recovered are a cap, slippers, handset, earpod, and power bank. The body was deposited at the university mortuary. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.”
University’s Response Awaited
Attempts to reach the university’s Public Relations Officer, Havillah Sam Aliyu, for a statement were unsuccessful, as calls to his mobile phone were not answered, and text messages sent to him remained unanswered at the time of this report.
