Osun 2022: Nomination and expression of intention forms are sent to Oyetola

Gboyega-Oyetola

Adegboyega Oyetola, the governor of Osun State, officially accepted the statement of intention and nomination forms that a few friends, political allies, and well-wishers had previously obtained in Abuja on his behalf on Tuesday.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, he also declared his desire to run for a second term in office.

He justified his choice by citing the need to build on his enormous achievements and solidify the good governance that his administration had worked so hard to establish.

This is happening even as the governor started his strategic engagement tour of the state’s councils on Tuesday.

“This is a rare honor coming to me to serve my people for another term,” Governor Oyetola said upon accepting the form in the Banquet Hall, Government House, Osogbo. He also expressed gratitude to the people of the State, especially the political associates who purchased the form for him.

“I express my gratitude to the individuals who bought the form on my behalf for their exceptional dedication. They didn’t tell me they wanted to do that. As I was making plans on how to obtain it, I got the news. Their accomplishments thus far serve as motivation to keep going and not give up.

“I wholeheartedly agree to your proposal to continue serving for an additional four years. With God willing, I want to reassure you that the best is still to come.

By God’s grace, the first four years are spent laying the groundwork, and the following four are spent expanding upon it. As you all know, we were challenged by so many things, however we did not disappoint you. More labor is the prize for a job well done. We won’t let this stop us; we’ll keep going.

“We appreciate you everyone. You are our pillars; we have nothing to fear since you are behind us. We’re going to change this state’s fortunes. In the comity of States, we want the state to be taken seriously.

It comes down to vision, dedication, focus, and selecting the ideal individuals to be in our lives. God has shown us great kindness, serenity, love, and harmony. Competition is essential to democracy. We are prepared for competition; we are not afraid of it. By the Grace of Almighty Allah, we will not let you down, I swear,” Oyetola continued.

Earlier in his speech, the chairman of the Osun Elders Caucus, also known as “Igbimo Agba,” Engr Sola Akinwumi, expressed confidence in Governor Oyetola’s ability to lead the party to success and stated that the party leaders were determined to work tirelessly to support his desire and secure his reelection.

Oyetola is a “good and unblemished product that has no boundary,” according to Engineer Akinwumi, who also stated that his incredible accomplishments since taking over the State’s affairs are unquestionable proof that he will be elected to a second term.

“Oyetola has the support of the important people in Osun,” he declared. In Osun politics, he is a good, boundary-pushing product. It is clear that he is leading Osun to the promised land as Almighty God has promised.

In a similar vein, Comrade Lekan Folorunso, the State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), stated that the Governor ought to be re-elected due to his positive contributions, which are felt and observed in many economic areas.

In addition to assuring the governor that he and his supporters throughout the state were fully behind him to secure his second term, Folorunso stated he and his members will do all within the law to get the governor back in office.

“Mr. Governor, I appreciate your strong support for us. We firmly support the Governor and his administration because we are the state’s proprietors due to our vital role in ensuring the welfare and everyday survival of the populace.

We pledge to provide you with unadulterated and unwavering support. As soon as your campaigns start, you will see our weights. You have had a significant influence on people’s lives. You will receive a tonne of votes for your party since you have transformed the concept of government and helped the people smile and find solace. We will not give up on your cause.

“I beseech your supporters to be true to you and your mission. We desire no traitors. By God’s grace, the road ahead of you is clear because they are dedicated to you and your goals, he continued.

Additionally, Mr. Governor’s good efforts will advocate for him to be returned, according to Comrade Olatunji Ambali, National President of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), who expressed appreciation for Mr. Governor’s attention to the welfare and general well-being of the populace, particularly workers in the State.

Similarly, State Chairman of the Joint Negotiating Council, Comrade Bayo Adejumo, stated that laborers firmly supported the Governor and intended to return his kindness by promptly receiving their salaries, benefits, and wages.

Adejumo declared that they were prepared to run a vigorous campaign for Governor Oyetola’s second term. He declared that the days of political indifference in the public service were over and that the moment had come to recognize and honor exceptional, unheard-of, and outstanding work.

The State APC Chairman-elect, Prince Gboyega Famodun, presented the Expression of Intention and Nomination Forms to the Governor and asked him to view the kind deed that resulted in the acquisition of the forms as a unique opportunity for him to carry on his good deeds.

“It is an indication that you have done excellently well and performed creditably well within the period you have been at the helms of affairs,” said Famodun, who hailed the gesture as a noble mandate for Mr. Governor to seek a second term in order to further lead the State to enviable heights.

The speaker of the Osun House of Assembly, Hon. Timothy Owoeye, and a former deputy governor, Mrs. Titilayo Laoye Ponle, referred to Mr. Governor’s campaign for reelection as “a round peg in a round hole,” arguing that he is more than qualified to serve the people for a second term.

On Tuesday, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola started his strategic engagement visit throughout the State’s councils.

It was understood that the governor will be allowed to engage with the public during the tour and show them his report card for review.

Starting from Ayedaade Grammar School, Ikire in Irewole Local Government, the tour, named “Have you in mind always,” will travel to ADC Grammar School, Apomu in Isokan Local Government, and conclude at St. Paul Primary School, Oke Church, Gbongan, Ayedaade Local Government on Day 1.
