The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has clarified that no directive has been issued requiring federal workers to change the financial institutions linked to their Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) salary accounts. In a statement on Monday by Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa, the OAGF reassured employees that IPPIS prioritizes their welfare and would not introduce any measures likely to cause confusion or unnecessary alarm.

This clarification comes amid concerns over potential requirements for employees to switch salary accounts as some banks undergo system upgrades. The OAGF emphasized that any change of salary account remains a personal choice and that the IPPIS Office has not issued a blanket directive for federal workers to alter their bank details.

The OAGF urged financial institutions to improve service delivery and instill customer confidence, especially for those who choose to domicile their salaries with them. The statement highlighted the role of designated regulatory agencies responsible for assessing the financial health of banks, expressing confidence in their ability to ensure stability within the financial sector.

“The OAGF explained that any application for a change of salary account is always a personal decision of the worker concerned, adding that the IPPIS Office has not issued any general directive to this effect as there was no reason to do so,” the statement read. It further advised financial institutions to implement strategies that guarantee efficient service for individuals whose salaries are deposited with them.

Employees who may have legitimate reasons to update their salary accounts on the IPPIS platform are encouraged to follow official procedures, adhering to established protocols to ensure smooth processing.
