Justice Salisu Abdullahi, the Administrator of the National Judicial Institute (NJI), has emphasized the need for prudent resource management within the judiciary. Addressing directors, finance personnel, and other judiciary staff at a national workshop on judicial financial management in Abuja, Abdullahi called for modernization efforts, including the adoption of recent accounting software and improved access to quality information for finance staff.
The workshop, themed Promoting Integrity and Transparency in the Administration of Justice, was organized by the NJI to equip Directors, Chief Accountants, Auditors, Budget Officers, and other financial handlers with best practices in public funds management. Abdullahi highlighted that current government economic policies demand efficient administration of financial resources, stressing that these skills are critical to the effective operation of the judiciary.
“You are expected to modernize financial management systems in the judiciary by ensuring timely provision of up-to-date accounting software and access to quality information for your staff,” Abdullahi stated, underlining the workshop’s objective to align judiciary financial practices with global standards and reinforce integrity and transparency in financial handling.
He noted that comprehensive budgeting, planning, and fund management within the judiciary are vital, adding, “The theme of this workshop aims to ensure participants handle judiciary finances with the utmost responsibility, transparency, and integrity.”
