Nigerian Women Affairs Minister Calls for Global Action to End Violence Against Children

The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has urged the international community to rally in support of efforts to end violence against children. Speaking at the first Global Conference on Ending Violence Against Children in Colombia, she highlighted the Nigerian government’s dedication to protecting children, led by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Leading Nigeria’s delegation of 1,600 participants, including representatives from 93 countries and 143 ministers, Sulaiman-Ibrahim emphasized the country’s commitment to creating a safer environment for children. She underscored the government’s policies focused on child and women protection, highlighting the necessity of accelerated actions for transformative progress in child protection.

“This historic global ministerial conference is an opportunity to envision a world where all children are safe—at home, in schools, in communities, and online,” she said. “Under President Tinubu, we are making significant efforts to improve children’s living conditions and investing in them as future leaders.”

The conference provided a platform for participants to showcase national achievements, pledge new commitments, and focus on child protection priorities. Joining Sulaiman-Ibrahim were prominent officials, including Ambassador Gabriel Aduda, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs, who joined delegates in pledging to advance child protection globally.

The conference underscored the critical responsibility of all nations to safeguard children’s futures and build a secure world for the next generation.
