Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, providing details of the operations, stated that the first mission targeted a terrorists’ gun truck located approximately five kilometers west of Kukawa. Acting on credible intelligence, NAF fighter jets executed precision strikes that destroyed the vehicle and incapacitated several fighters, dealing a significant blow to the terrorists’ operational capacity.

In the second mission, NAF air assets responded to a distress call from ground troops under attack by terrorists on motorcycles. The swift intervention of the air component effectively neutralized the attackers, aiding the troops in repelling the assault.

The operation also led to the recovery of over 20 abandoned motorcycles by ground forces as they pursued fleeing and injured terrorists to maintain the momentum against the insurgents.

“The NAF remains steadfast in its commitment to national security,” Akinboyewa emphasized. “We will continue to deliver effective airpower to support ground troops and other security agencies in the ongoing efforts to restore peace and security across the country.”

The successful missions highlight a critical step in Nigeria’s ongoing fight against terrorism, showcasing the effectiveness of coordinated military operations in the Northeast region.
