The suspects, identified as Adamu Noma, Matthew Audu, Andrew Poyi, Aminu Sani, and Aminu Talha, were apprehended during a meticulously planned operation aimed at disrupting the illegal arms trade across Nigeria’s borders.
In a statement on Friday, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, detailed the recovered items, which include:
- 10 locally fabricated AK-47 rifles
- 5 Israeli-made AK-47 rifles
- 1 revolver pistol
- 1 pump-action rifle
- 20 rounds of AK-47 ammunition

Adejobi described the arrests and recoveries as significant milestones in the police force’s ongoing efforts to combat arms trafficking and insecurity in Nigeria.
“These accomplishments, along with several other operations conducted by police operatives nationwide, underscore the steadfastness and commitment of the current police leadership to decimate and subdue criminal activities and insecurity in the country,” he stated.
The arrests come as part of intensified measures to address the proliferation of arms, which has fueled violence and crime in various parts of the country. The police vowed to continue its crackdown on illegal arms trade, ensuring that perpetrators face the full weight of the law.
