Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, has been named the winner of the People’s Choice of the Year category at the upcoming Democracy Heroes Award Africa 2023. His victory was determined through an online voting process where Nigerians selected the most deserving candidate for the prestigious honor.

The voting process, which ended on August 26, allowed citizens to vote in various categories of the award. The conferment of awards is set to take place in Abuja on October 13, 2023.

Organized by the Face of Democracy Nigeria (FDN), the Democracy Heroes Award Africa celebrates notable political, business, and entertainment figures for their exceptional contributions to society. These contributions include outstanding governance, job creation, corporate social responsibility, and overall service to the public.

During a press briefing in Abuja, Olufunsho Ajagbonna, Project Director of Face of Democracy Nigeria, expressed satisfaction with the overall election process. He commended the efforts of all nominees and encouraged those who didn’t secure victory to remain hopeful for future editions.
