NET Honours 2023: Audience-Based Awards Return with Top Nominations for African Celebrities

Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET) has announced the seventh edition of the NET Honours, a prestigious annual audience-data-based awards ceremony. The winners will be revealed this December, celebrating some of Africa’s most notable figures in entertainment.

This year’s event promises exciting surprises, with nominations driven entirely by data, reflecting audience engagement, trends, and searches on ID Africa’s media platforms: Netng, Neusroom, 234Star, and Orin. Fans will have the chance to vote in 18 out of the 24 categories, honouring celebrities, public figures, and events that shaped Africa’s pop culture over the past year.

Iretomiwa Akintunde-Johnson, ID Africa’s Regional Manager for West Africa, highlighted Nigeria’s pivotal role in Africa’s entertainment growth, stating that the awards play a crucial role in chronicling this important period.

Big names like Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy lead with three nominations each, while Ayra Starr, Tems, and Tiwa Savage received two nominations. Rema and Asake also feature prominently in the Most Popular Music Artiste category.

Other notable nominees include actors Tobi Bakre, Kunle Remi, and Femi Adebayo, while Sabinus and Kiekie are among the contenders for Most Popular Social Content Creator.

The non-voting categories feature Adekunle Gold and Simi, alongside Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva, for Most Popular Couple.

Voting for the awards concluded on Tuesday, and the winners will be announced today through Netng’s social media and website.
