In October, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano State seized 709.979 kg of illicit drugs and arrested 129 male suspects, according to a statement released by the command’s spokesman, ASN Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, on Wednesday. The State Commander, Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, detailed that the confiscated substances included 309.991 kg of cannabis sativa and 394.835 kg of various psychotropic drugs, such as 741,600 tablets of Tramadol, 2.789 kg of pregabalin, and 0.027 kg of methamphetamine.
During the period, the command also secured 22 convictions, highlighting its commitment to curbing drug trafficking. Some suspects have been charged, while others are receiving counseling and rehabilitation. Idris-Ahmad expressed gratitude to NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Marwa (Rtd), for his support, as well as to the Kano State Government and other stakeholders.
The commander urged the public to report drug-related information via NDLEA’s hotline, “0800 1020 3040,” emphasizing that community collaboration is essential to creating a safer, drug-free society.
