Motorists Advised to Use Alternative Route as Heavy Rain Cuts Off Bauchi-Gombe Highway

Motorists traveling to Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba, and parts of Borno State from Bauchi have been directed to use the Bauchi-Darazo-Dukku-Gombe Federal Highway following a disruption on the Bauchi-Gombe federal highway due to heavy rain damage near the Kalajanga bridge on Saturday.

The Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander, CC PI Idakaba, reported on Monday, August 14, 2023, that a segment of the Bauchi-Gombe road, located 12 kilometers from Bara village at Kalajanga, was rendered impassable after it was washed away. He advised motorists to use the safer alternative route until further notice.

Construction company ENERCO has mobilized equipment to the site, and engineers, including representatives from the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), are carrying out urgent palliative measures to rehabilitate the road. FRSC officers, led by the Unit Commander from RS 12.15 Bara, are actively managing traffic and directing drivers along the alternative Bauchi-Darazo-Dukku route to ensure smooth travel.

Governor of Gombe State, who visited the affected site, received assurances of timely intervention to restore the road’s accessibility.
