Gospel music star Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, have brought holiday cheer to the less privileged residents of Rumudara, Port Harcourt, in Rivers State, with an outreach that offered much-needed support to families in need.

Outreach Under the Mercy Is Blessed Foundation

On December 30, 2024, the couple, through the Mercy Is Blessed Foundation, distributed essential food items to elderly residents, single mothers, and other disadvantaged households. Among the items were bags of rice, garri, cartons of tomato paste, and tubers of yam. In addition to these, the couple also provided cash gifts and fabrics, ensuring that the community experienced a joyous Christmas and New Year, despite the tough economic climate in Nigeria.

The outreach was part of the ongoing efforts of the Mercy Is Blessed Foundation, which is the charitable arm of the Grace and Truth Nation music label, co-owned by Mercy Chinwo and her husband.

A Message of Love and Giving

Pastor Uzochikwa shared the heartwarming philosophy behind the initiative, stating, “The central goal of Christ is love, and He is the reason for the season. According to John 3:16, we know that giving is the DNA of love. John 3:16 says: ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.’ Love is about giving, and that is why the Mercy Is Blessed Foundation has made it a central idea to share the love of Jesus Christ with people who don’t know where their next meal would come from.”

He added that the foundation’s goal was not only to provide food but also to empower people by helping them establish sustainable means of income, offering a holistic approach to uplifting the community.
