The Lagos State Government, in collaboration with MTN Nigeria, has unveiled MyLagosApp, a digital platform designed to enhance integrated multimodal transportation across the state.
According to a statement released on Thursday by Bolanle Ogunlola, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, the platform aims to improve connectivity, efficiency, and accessibility for commuters in Lagos.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, emphasized the app’s significance for Lagosians.
“The app was developed to meet the needs of Lagosians by providing connectivity, efficiency, and accessibility.”
He also stressed that the success of MyLagosApp depends on public participation, urging residents to embrace, interact with, and engage with the app’s features to maximize its benefits.
“The success of the application depends on Lagosians; we urge them to embrace, interact with, and engage its features,” Hamzat stated.
App to Improve Transport Navigation and Infrastructure Planning
Providing further insight, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, highlighted the app’s key features designed to support the state’s multimodal transport plan.
The MyLagosApp will:
- Show various transportation options available across the city.
- Provide real-time traffic and commuter data, helping users plan their routes more efficiently.
- Offer predictive modeling to improve road infrastructure and ease congestion.
- Serve as a communication channel between Lagosians and the government for transport-related feedback.
Osiyemi noted that the data collected through the app would aid in implementing the Lagos State Transport Policy and contribute to infrastructure development.
“This application will help gather feedback, which will aid in implementing the Lagos State Transport Policy and contribute to the development of necessary road infrastructure.”
