Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, expressed deep sorrow over the death of Oladotun Olakanle, the Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), who passed away early Saturday at the age of 54 following a brief illness. Although details surrounding his illness remain unconfirmed, Olakanle’s passing has stirred a wave of mourning across the state.
In a heartfelt condolence message issued by Gboyega Akosile, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Sanwo-Olu described Olakanle’s death as a profound loss to the Onigbongbo LCDA, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the state at large. The governor expressed his sympathy to Olakanle’s family and friends, and extended prayers for his peaceful repose.
Governor Sanwo-Olu stated, “On behalf of my family and the entire Lagos State Government, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the residents of Onigbongbo LCDA on the death of their beloved council Chairman, Hon. Oladotun Olakanle. His passing is a deeply personal loss for me and a great loss to his council and the entire state.”
He praised Olakanle’s dedication as a public officer and committed democrat, highlighting his loyalty to the APC and his vast understanding of local government dynamics. “Hon. Olakanle was a loyal party member and a valuable asset to the APC. His absence will be felt deeply within the political community, particularly among those he served so devotedly in Onigbongbo and across Lagos.”
