The Kwara State Government has lifted its initial ban on shuttle buses, taxis, and ride-hailing services using Ahmadu Bello Way, allowing them access to the key route leading to the Government House. This decision was announced on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, through a statement issued by the ministry’s Press Secretary, Olajide Abolarin.

The statement clarified that while shuttle buses, taxis, and ride-hailing vehicles are now allowed to operate on Ahmadu Bello Way, other vehicle types, including tricycles, motorcycles, and heavy-duty trucks, remain restricted due to security considerations and efforts to maintain public order.

The government’s reversal follows its prior directive last Friday, which initially restricted various vehicles, including tricycles and heavy-duty trucks, from using Ahmadu Bello Way. Violators of the remaining restrictions face fines of up to N50,000, and the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Agency has begun enforcement, with restriction signage being installed along the route, which serves as a major access way for vehicles traveling to Tanke, Fate, and River Basin areas within Ilorin.
