Nigeria’s fintech company, Kippa, has announced the shutdown of its offline payment solution, KippaPay, which allowed users to send and receive payments and facilitate extended transactions. With the closure, the company will also lay off the team dedicated to KippaPay’s development, with core team members set to leave by December.
Founder and CEO Kennedy Ekezie explained that the decision was part of a strategy to focus on profitability and streamline Kippa’s product offerings. He commended the team for their contributions and the positive impact KippaPay had on merchants.
KippaPay services will officially cease on November 15, with the company offering support to merchants and partners to help them transition smoothly and resolve outstanding settlements.
