The Kano State Fire Service, led by Hassan Muhammad, reported property losses exceeding ₦132,450,000 due to various fire outbreaks in November 2024. The service also noted the successful rescue of three individuals while responding to 43 fire incidents during the month.

According to the service’s spokesman, Saminu Abdullahi, the operations for the month included saving property valued at over ₦310,600,000. Despite their efforts, three lives were tragically lost, and four others were rescued during the incidents.

In addition to fire emergencies, the service responded to six false alarms and five rescue calls across its 29 fire stations spread throughout Kano State.

Abdullahi urged the public to exercise caution with fire, particularly during the harmattan season when the risk of fire outbreaks is heightened.

“I will use this opportunity to draw the attention of the general public to handle fire with care to avoid fire incidences, especially during the current harmattan season,” Abdullahi said.

He also advised motorists to drive carefully and adhere to traffic laws to prevent road accidents during the Christmas holiday period. The Fire Service continues to emphasize community awareness and preventive measures to mitigate future losses.
