Empowering Determined Individuals
Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has granted automatic employment to Mrs. Hassana Minjibir, a visually impaired graduate of Special Education from Bayero University, Kano. The announcement was made during a women’s empowerment programme where Minjibir’s perseverance and resilience in pursuing a self-reliant career caught the governor’s attention.
The governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, confirmed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, highlighting the administration’s commitment to inclusivity and support for persons with disabilities.
Recognition of Perseverance
Governor Yusuf praised Minjibir’s determination to overcome physical challenges and pursue her education. He expressed his admiration for her dedication, stating, “Her commitment to achieving her goals despite the odds is truly inspiring and deserving of recognition.”
As part of the initiative, the governor not only offered Minjibir immediate employment but also pledged to appoint her to the board of the Persons with Disabilities Commission, a new body set to be established in Kano State.
Expedited Employment Process
The governor directed the Kano State Head of Service to ensure that Minjibir’s employment in the state civil service is processed without delay. This directive reflects Yusuf’s commitment to improving the lives of individuals with special needs and ensuring they have access to opportunities for self-empowerment.
The statement emphasized the administration’s broader dedication to creating an inclusive environment that supports all residents, particularly those with disabilities.
A Step Towards Inclusivity
Governor Yusuf’s gesture underscores his administration’s focus on inclusivity and equal opportunities for all citizens. The promise to establish a Persons with Disabilities Commission aims to institutionalize support systems for individuals with disabilities, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs addressed.
