In a recent statement, Chief Press Secretary to the Kaduna State Governor, Ibrahim Musa, announced the launch of a free bus service to support civil servants commuting to and from work. This initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on workers, boost productivity, and improve living standards, particularly for the poor, vulnerable, and underserved.
To manage the Free Transportation Scheme, a Joint Management Committee will be established, with representatives from organized labor groups, including the NLC and TUC, as well as the state government. “The Kaduna State Government will continue to implement policies that uplift the less privileged,” the statement read, emphasizing the state’s commitment to social welfare and citizen support.
In a related development, the governor has approved a new minimum wage of ₦72,000 for civil servants, effective November 2024, reflecting the administration’s dedication to improving the welfare of its workforce.
