The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), in collaboration with the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), has successfully intercepted $300,000 that was allegedly being diverted through suspicious accounts. The funds were earmarked for a student Information and Communication Technology (ICT) program.

Chairman of the ICPC, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, disclosed this during a statement emphasizing the importance of inter-agency collaboration in combating corruption. According to Aliyu, the intervention was made possible through a tip-off provided by the BPP, which raised concerns about irregularities in the management of the funds for the ICT initiative.

Aliyu explained, “It was the Bureau of Public Procurement that alerted us to some suspicious activities related to the ICT program for students. This prompted a detailed investigation, during which $300,000 was blocked in one of the suspicious accounts. Additionally, a high-value vehicle associated with the program was recovered.”

The ICPC chairman highlighted the critical role of inter-agency partnerships in identifying and preventing corrupt practices, adding that such collaborations are essential to ensuring public funds are not misappropriated. This recovery operation serves as a significant step in maintaining transparency and accountability in government programs aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for students.
