Officials from Harrow School, one of the United Kingdom’s most prestigious educational institutions, are in Nigeria to engage with current and prospective parents and students. Their visit underscores the school’s recognition of Nigeria’s growing importance as a contributor to its diverse student body.
During a reception hosted by High Achievers Academy at The Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi, Lagos, Harrow School’s leadership expressed gratitude for the strong relationship between the institution and Nigerian families. Over the years, many Nigerian students have been part of Harrow’s distinguished legacy.
The event featured remarks from Harrow’s Head Master, Alastair Land, who highlighted the school’s respect for the trust Nigerian parents place in the institution.
“It’s a pleasure to be here in Nigeria, a country that has contributed so many bright students to Harrow over the years,” Land said. “This visit is not just a thank-you to the Nigerian families who have entrusted their children to us, but also an opportunity to explore the possibility of expanding our presence in this dynamic country.”
Land emphasized the school’s appreciation of the sacrifices made by Nigerian parents to provide their children with a world-class education abroad. He noted that Harrow’s philosophy ensures that every student becomes part of a lifelong global family.
“We honour that trust. It’s an important part of the Harrow community, where once a boy joins us, he becomes part of our global family for life,” he added.
This visit marks Land’s first time in Nigeria, though he has visited other African countries in the past.
The event was facilitated by Yemisi Akindele, Proprietor of High Achievers Academy, who welcomed the opportunity to connect Harrow’s leadership with the Nigerian community.
“This event is a unique chance for current and prospective parents to learn more about Harrow’s exceptional legacy, academic offerings, and future opportunities. It’s also an opportunity to strengthen the ties between the Harrovian community here in Lagos and the school itself,” Akindele remarked.
