Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives following a cement truck accident in the Aiyetoro area of Epe, Lagos State, on Monday. In a post on X.com on Tuesday, Sanwo-Olu extended his heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the accident.
“I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences in light of the tragic traffic accident that occurred in Aiyetoro, Epe, Lagos, on Monday, 11 November 2024,” the governor wrote. “Reports indicate that a cement truck suffered brake failure, resulting in the unfortunate loss of lives and injuries. With deep sorrow, I extend my sympathies to the families of those affected, and I pray for the departed souls and the speedy recovery of the injured.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed hope that families would find solace in the love and support around them, adding that the memories of the deceased would provide some comfort amid their grief.
The incident reportedly claimed at least three lives and left several injured. Witnesses said the truck, descending from Ita-Opo, lost its brakes and collided with a commercial tricycle and a parked Toyota Camry before crashing into a market, causing significant damage.
