Governor Abdullahi Sule Urges New Nasarawa LGA Chairmen to Prioritize Transparency and Grassroots Development

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has called on the newly elected chairmen of the state’s 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) to uphold transparency, accountability, and prudence in their roles. The chairmen, all members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), were sworn in on Monday in Lafia, following their victories in what Sule described as a peaceful and transparent election held last Saturday.

 

In his address, Governor Sule emphasized the importance of projects that directly benefit residents at the grassroots level. “You are to embrace transparency, accountability, probity, and above all, prudence in the management of public resources,” he stated, congratulating the elected chairmen and 147 councillors on their success. “Your emergence is a reflection of the confidence that the electorate have reposed in you. I call on you to justify this confidence by improving the fortunes of your respective local government areas.”

 

The governor also urged the chairmen to foster peace and unity in their communities and praised security agencies for maintaining peace throughout the election process. Sule expressed gratitude to traditional rulers, political leaders, and the public for their support, contributing to a successful election.

 

The Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, Muhammad Aliyu, confirmed that the APC won all 13 chairmanship positions in the elections, crediting Governor Sule for his commitment to democratic processes in Nasarawa. Aliyu commended the governor’s efforts in ensuring free and fair local government elections.

Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in chairmen, the Chairman of Lafia LGA, Mohammed Haliru, thanked Governor Sule, stakeholders, and Nasarawa residents for their trust and confidence, pledging to serve diligently over the next three years.

  • Hon. Adamu Aboki Usman – Keana LGA
  • Hon. Dr. Idris Ahmed Danmagani – Keffi LGA
  • Hon. Agbawu Mek Agbawu – Kokona LGA
  • Hon. Mohammed Arabo Haliru – Lafia LGA
  • Hon. Mohammed Hassan Ahmed – Nasarawa LGA
  • Barr. Iliya Ibn Aliyu – Nasarawa Eggon LGA
  • Hon. Mohammed Isa KK – Obi LGA
  • Pharm. Ahmed Baba Yahaya – Toto LGA
  • Hon. Ezekiel Musa Jagga – Wamba LGA

The swearing-in ceremony saw attendance from notable dignitaries, including Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, House Speaker Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, State Chief Judge Aisha Bashir Aliyu, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, and the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad, among others.
