A truck carrying gas cylinders exploded at a filling station in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, causing significant damage to six vehicles. The incident occurred on November 15 and was promptly addressed by security forces.
According to a statement released on Friday by the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the explosion happened at the Tamal Filling Station along the Kagadama-Magamar Jibia road. The loud blast drew the attention of operatives from the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters, who, along with the military, responded swiftly.
“Upon arrival, the operatives discovered a truck loaded with gas cylinders engulfed in flames. The joint team promptly deployed measures to protect lives and minimise property damage, successfully extinguishing the fire,” Sadiq-Aliyu reported.
Although the explosion caused significant damage to six motor vehicles, no lives were lost during the incident.
The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, has ordered a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the cause of the explosion. Updates on the findings will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
