Participants in this year’s Olokun Festival, which is scheduled to commemorate the body’s 20th anniversary, can be assured by Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams, that the event promises to draw the best in terms of both economic and spiritual prosperities. Over 20,000 guests from within and outside of Nigeria are expected to grace the occasion.
This guarantee was provided over the weekend in a statement released by Adams’ Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, while outlining the week-long schedule for the 2022 Olokun Festival celebration. Adams is also the Chief Promoter of the Olokun Festival Foundation (OFF).
The Olokun celebration Foundation (OFF) celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, which made this year’s celebration particularly significant in the organization’s history, according to the Yoruba generalissimo.
“Although there are a lot of events scheduled for this year, it should be noted that the Olokun Festival event this year was especially designed to accommodate other interesting events in order to commemorate OFF’s 20th anniversary.
More than 20,000 visitors, both from within and outside of Nigeria, are anticipated. State representatives are on their way,” he declared.
The Yoruba generalissimo, Akran of Badagry, Oba De-Wheno Aholu, has announced that he will lead over fifty notable monarchs who are also traveling from the Benin Republic. He also mentioned that visitors from Brazil and Cuba have expressed interest in taking part in this year’s celebration.
“We have a full house, and the planning committee has been working nonstop to make sure that this year’s Olokun Festival receives the maximum amount of patronage and attendance possible,” Iba Adams stated.
Speaking further, Adams outlined the events’ agenda, which included a press conference set for Wednesday, October 19, at the OPC Secretariat (Oodua House) in Ikeja, Lagos, and an Almighty God Prayer for Wednesday, October 20, also at the same location.
He announced that the annual Beauty Pageant will be place on Sunday, October 23, at a well-known event center in Abule Egba, Lagos, and that the OFF’s 20th anniversary program will take place on Friday, October 21, at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja.
“On Tuesday, October 25 in Badagry, there will be the Boat Regatta, Festival Floats, and Olosa Gala Night. On Wednesday, October 26, the Grand Finale will take place at SuItan Beach in Badagry.
“The venue has sufficient security measures in place, and it’s crucial to remember that Oodua People’s Congress members are traveling from all over the nation,” Adams said.
