The Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, has granted clearance for a female student, Ramota Olahanloye, to graduate following the re-evaluation of her final-year examination scripts.
Olahanloye had accused a lecturer, Dr. Anthony Agbegbedia, of failing her in two final-year courses after she refused his alleged demands for sexual favors.
In a statement released on Friday by the Special Adviser on Media to the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Wole Balogun, the university confirmed that Olahanloye’s allegations were investigated and her scripts were re-marked.
“The young lady’s scripts were re-marked, and she performed fairly better than the scores initially awarded by Dr. Anthony Agbegbedia,” the statement noted.
Following the re-evaluation, the university management approved the revised results, confirming Olahanloye’s qualification for graduation. She has since started her final clearance.
Balogun further revealed that Dr. Agbegbedia was sanctioned for his misconduct, signaling the university’s commitment to accountability and justice.
Expressing her joy, Olahanloye said, “I am happy that I have gotten justice, and I truly appreciate the university Vice-Chancellor for initiating the investigation. I have begun my clearance and am excited to graduate.”
Her father, Rasaki Olahanloye, also commended the institution’s dedication to fairness, stating, “FUOYE has served justice to my daughter. Her re-marked results confirm that she passed. I thank the VC and the committee for ensuring justice prevailed.”
The development underscores FUOYE’s resolve to uphold academic integrity and address grievances effectively.
