FIRS Launches Recruitment Portal for Tax Officer Roles Across Eight States

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has announced the commencement of recruitment for Officer I and Officer II positions, set to open at 12:00 am on November 2, 2024. The tax authority posted on Friday via its X account, inviting eligible candidates from diverse backgrounds, including women, minorities, and persons with disabilities, to apply.

Available positions span across eight states: Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Ekiti, Lagos, and Oyo. However, selected candidates should be prepared to work in any FIRS business location, irrespective of their initial posting preferences.

Eligibility Criteria and Application Requirements:

  1. Age and NYSC: Applicants must be 27 years or younger by December 31, 2024, and have completed their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) by the same date in 2021.
  2. Educational Qualifications: Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s Degree or HND with a First Class or Second Class Upper Division in fields like Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Economics, Law, Mathematics, and Statistics. Relevant master’s degrees and professional affiliations (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, COREN, NSE) are advantageous.
  3. Application Process: FIRS emphasizes using official channels only, directing all applications to their portal at www.firs.gov.ng/careers and cautioning applicants against fraudulent recruitment schemes. Applications close on November 14, 2024, and multiple applications are prohibited.

The selection process will include aptitude tests, interviews, and medical examinations, with only shortlisted candidates progressing to further assessments.
