Federal Ministry Endorses Ogbomoso Cradle Carnival 2024 for Cultural and Economic Empowerment

The Federal Ministry of Tourism, Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy has officially endorsed the inaugural Ogbomoso Cradle Carnival 2024, initiated by the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Olaoye. Set to take place in December 2024, this maiden event aims to showcase Ogbomoso’s rich heritage, enhancing both social and economic growth in Oyo State.

In a commendation letter dated October 9, 2024, and signed by Akudo-Nwosu, Director of the Ministry’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Department, the ministry praised Oba Olaoye for his commitment to empowering the community through cultural initiatives. The ministry highlighted the carnival as a powerful platform for job creation, social engagement, and local economic growth, reinforcing Nigeria’s cultural and creative economy.

“This initiative by the Soun of Ogbomoso aligns with our national vision of driving economic empowerment through culture,” the letter stated. “The Ogbomoso Cradle Carnival promises to be a vibrant celebration, spotlighting the town’s heritage while providing opportunities for local businesses and artisans.”

Williams Adeleye, Chairman of the Carnival’s Planning Committee, expressed gratitude for the ministry’s support, sharing that the event will feature diverse cultural performances, artisan exhibitions, and other activities showcasing Ogbomoso’s unique legacy. He also confirmed that the carnival is now included in Oyo State’s annual tourism calendar, further enhancing its role in regional tourism and cultural development.
