Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested two suspects, Emmanuel Linus and Moses Daniel, for impersonating a Nigerian Army officer and engaging in fraudulent activities.

Linus was apprehended on November 30, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., wearing a full Nigerian Army camouflage uniform. During his initial interrogation, he presented a fake military identification card with an erroneous birthdate of December 20, 2024, which raised suspicions. Further investigations revealed that Linus and Daniel were part of a criminal syndicate that defrauded victims by purchasing goods and services using fake bank alerts.

Parading the suspects alongside others in Abuja on Tuesday, the Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu, confirmed the duo’s involvement in fraudulent activities. He stated that the police had launched a comprehensive investigation to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate.

“The suspects were known for deceiving sellers with fake bank alerts to obtain goods and services. The investigation is ongoing, and we will update the public as more details emerge,” Disu said.

Arrests for Cable Theft In a separate operation, the Command arrested two suspects, including a dismissed police officer, for vandalizing streetlight poles and stealing cables valued at over ₦20 million. The arrests followed five days of surveillance around suspicious activities at manholes near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja.

On November 29, 2024, at around 3:49 a.m., a distress call alerted the police to the theft. Acting swiftly, operatives apprehended the suspects, identified as Awal Mustaf and David Maji. Items recovered during the operation included several medium and large-sized streetlight poles and cables belonging to the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).

“Both suspects are in custody and undergoing further investigation,” Disu disclosed.

Overall Achievements In total, 16 suspects were paraded, with 11 exhibits and seven vehicles recovered in various operations across the FCT. Disu assured residents of the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order while urging continued cooperation from the public.
