The family of Ross Ogbeinde, an international student from Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, is seeking financial support for his burial arrangements following his sudden death on December 29, 2024. Ogbeinde, who was studying at the University of South Wales, collapsed and lost consciousness before passing away, just days before he was set to graduate in January 2025.

Ogbeinde resided in Pontypridd, South Wales, UK, with his wife, Benedicta, and their three children. In a heart-wrenching note posted on GoFundMe, Benedicta shared the tragic news and explained that her husband had collapsed unexpectedly before an ambulance could arrive. The funds raised through the GoFundMe campaign are intended to help with burial expenses and provide assistance to the family as they navigate this devastating loss.

The campaign’s description read, “The funds will be used to begin burial arrangements and assist the family with settling expenses. The young widow will need your support to care for the children and meet their immediate needs.” As of Sunday, January 7, 2024, £225 had been raised from eight donations, which represents just one per cent of the £20,000 target goal.

The death of Ogbeinde follows a similar tragedy reported in October 2024, when Chinonso Ezeonwumere, an MSc Management student at the University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield, also passed away suddenly. The recent surge in sudden deaths among Nigerians living in the UK has caused shock and concern within the community.

Ogbeinde’s family and friends are appealing to the public for financial assistance during this difficult time, hoping to raise enough funds to cover the funeral expenses and support the grieving widow and children.
