Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has once again appeared before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with allegations of fund misappropriation. Bello was reported to have arrived at the EFCC office on Tuesday morning, accompanied by his legal team.
The former governor’s visit comes in the wake of a recent Supreme Court ruling affirming the constitutionality of the EFCC’s operations. Sources indicated that Bello personally drove a black Hilux to the commission’s office, joined by his lawyers.
This development follows previous reports of pending charges against Bello. During a recent hearing on November 14, the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, presided over by Justice Maryanne Anenih, considered a request from the EFCC for an adjournment. The commission cited a 30-day legal window for summons compliance as its basis for the delay.
The EFCC had also admitted Bello’s co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, to administrative bail while seeking more time to ensure Bello’s appearance in court. Justice Anenih subsequently scheduled the arraignment of the former governor for November 27.
Bello’s legal troubles have attracted significant public attention, with observers closely watching developments in the case.
