The 2023 Global Impact Makers list, an annual recognition of Nigerian entrepreneurs excelling on the world stage, has celebrated Dr. Jeffrey Obomeghie, CEO of the International Hospitality Institute, for his international contributions to the hospitality industry. Released on December 13, the list includes other Nigerian luminaries such as Adebayo Ogunlesi, Chinedu Echeruo, Mo Abudu, Tony Elumelu, and Tope Awotona, all recognized for driving significant change and innovation globally.
As CEO and founder of the International Hospitality Institute, Dr. Obomeghie has been instrumental in shaping the global hospitality landscape, advocating for excellence, and expanding African influence in international business. His leadership extends to his role as Chairman of St. Justine Hotels and Residences, where he collaborates with industry pioneers, including Horst Schulze, co-founder of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. Obomeghie’s contributions earned him a spot on the Business Anecdote Magazine’s Top Ten Most Influential People in Hospitality for 2023, marking his influence in the field.
Throughout the year, Obomeghie’s work garnered further recognition with the Pan African American Leadership Award (PAALA) from the African Women Leadership Organization and the Icon of the Year (Hospitality) title from the Pyne Africa Awards. These awards underscore his commitment to promoting hospitality excellence and his impact on global standards.
In addition to his executive roles, Obomeghie has made a mark as an author, with several published works spanning fiction and nonfiction. He founded the International Hospitality Hall of Fame®, an institution celebrating achievements in the field. Academically, he holds degrees in political science from the University of Lagos and the University of Maryland UC College, a Ph.D. from Johnson University, and recently gained admission to Columbia University’s master’s program in Adult Leadership and Education.
