Delta State Police Arrest Two Young Men for Separate Murders Over Wage Dispute and Family Feud

The Delta State Police Command has apprehended two young men, 21-year-old Monday Peter and 17-year-old ThankGod, for allegedly committing murder in two separate incidents. Both suspects confessed to their crimes in a video interview released on Thursday by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright.

Peter, age 21, admitted to killing his friend, Ifeayin Ezekiel, after a disagreement over unpaid wages. According to Peter, Ezekiel had not compensated him for a job. The dispute escalated when Peter refused to pay Ezekiel for another task, citing the previous unpaid debt. This confrontation led to a physical altercation, during which Peter stabbed Ezekiel with a knife, ultimately resulting in Ezekiel’s death. Peter explained, “He gave me a job but didn’t pay. I invited him for another job, but when he asked for his payment, I refused, reminding him of the unpaid wages he owed me. We started fighting, and I ended up stabbing him with a knife.”

Meanwhile, ThankGod, 17, admitted to killing a man in a revenge attack after the man allegedly assaulted his mother. ThankGod recalled confronting the man on the day of the assault, which led to a struggle in which he was injured. Although initially advised to forgive the man, ThankGod encountered him again four days later and, in a fit of anger, struck him with a machete, unintentionally causing the man’s death. “When I saw the man after he had hurt my mother, I confronted him, and he injured me,” said ThankGod. “Though I was told to forgive him, I saw him again a few days later, and I used a machete to cut him; he ran off but didn’t survive.”

SP Edafe Bright expressed regret over the tragic incidents, highlighting the young ages of the suspects. He warned against the dangers of uncontrolled anger and underscored the consequences of violent actions. Both young men are expected to face legal charges in court.
