Nigerian music icon, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed plans to celebrate his birthday this year with a generous donation of ₦300 million to orphanages and a charity focused on combating drug abuse and addiction among youths.
The singer announced the initiative on Monday via his X (formerly Twitter) account, stating:
“Once again, my birthday this year, we are donating to orphanages and a charity that helps young people stay away from drug abuse and addiction. This year, it’s ₦300m. Details to follow soon.”
Continuing a Legacy of Generosity
This act of kindness aligns with Davido’s longstanding tradition of philanthropy during his birthday celebrations. Over the years, he has used his platform to support orphanages and other charitable causes across Nigeria.
In February 2024, the musician similarly donated ₦300 million to orphanages nationwide. Additionally, in November 2021, FRONTPAGE reported that Davido contributed ₦250 million to 292 orphanages as part of his 29th birthday celebration. Most recently, in July 2023, he extended support to over 400 orphanages, donating ₦237 million.
