In an effort to improve the judiciary’s ability to administer justice, Gombe State Chief Judge Justice Halimah Mohammed swore in 51 newly appointed judges on Wednesday, including five from the Upper Court and forty-six from the Area Court.

A one-day induction and refresher training for the judges, which focused on improving justice delivery, jurisdictional competence, and adherence to the code of conduct, took place after the swearing-in event, which took place in Gombe.

Justice Mohammed, who spoke at the ceremony, called the appointments a major turning point for the state’s judicial system.

She asked the judges to uphold the rule of law strictly, fairly, and diligently.

“These judges have been elevated with the assurance that they will preserve the principles of honesty, fairness, and a strong sense of justice. “The public’s trust in you is inviolable,” she declared.
The Chief Judge also highlighted the judiciary’s dedication to lifelong learning by applauding the involvement of seasoned Area Court judges in the refresher session.

“Justice delayed is justice denied,” she said, emphasizing the value of effective case management.
Garba Abubakar, the chairman of the Gombe State Area Court Judges Association, praised the appointments as historic and said they were a proactive move to fill the vacancies left by lower court retirements and incapacities.

In addition, he praised Justice Mohammed for her commitment to judicial reforms and capacity building, which he claimed would improve the state’s ability to administer justice.
